What is often neglected in the discussion about sustainability and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the societal aspect. Sustainability is often only associated with the envrionment and sometimes the economy, the potentials of civic participation in the decision-making process frequently being left aside. If everybody would be truly equal and so too in a political way, accountability and responsibility for political decisions could be raised to a new level.
