In cooperation with the Indiana Motor Truck Association, several food banks such as Gleaners Food Bank, Midwest Food Bank, Second Helpings and St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry have started a project with the goal of putting a stop of wasting food, and instead feeding the hungry.
Tons of food is rejected by grocery stores and distributors on a regular basis because parts of a truckload has marginal visual flaws. Instead of delivering the perfectly fine food to the local landfill, truck drivers, who have to get rid of the freight when it is rejected, now have a way of knowing where it is needed and which of the locations is convenient to get to.
