Ericsson, Orange and the PSA Group have signed a partnership agreement on a 5G technology project for automotive applications. The project is called “Towards 5G” and aims at the evolution from 4G to 5G technology for connected vehicle requirements in intelligent transport systems. Furthermore, 5G technologies should improve road safety and enable new automotive and in-car services. Each company will apply its expertise in the project. As a result of the collaboration, a comprehensive experience of the requirements for a 5G infrastructure will be developed that fits to the needs of the connected vehicles industry.
