Toyota’s global data-science hub, Toyota Connected is ready to expand its headcount and office near Plano, Texas. Celebrating its one-year anniversary, Toyota said that it plans to increase its headcount from 55 to about 200 data scientists, engineers, software developers and others. Created with an aim “to significantly expand Toyota’s capabilities in the fields of vehicle data science, machine learning and contextual data services development throughout Toyota’s global operations,” the data units develops a cloud-based mobility platform to allow services such as ride sharing, car sharing, remote delivery and more. Zack Hicks, CEO of Toyota Connected said, ” The amount of interest and demand in leveraging our big data to create new products and services has been incredible. Over the past year, we’ve been scaling up to deliver on these new opportunities, which will significantly impact the way consumers interact with vehicles.”
