After a successful implementation of its fuel cell technology in the automotive sector, Toyota is now planning to implement the hydrogen fuel cell technology in its factory operations in Japan. The company will start the trials for the hybrid fuel cell system this week at its Motomachi factory in Japan. The system will feature solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) and micro gas turbines that is fuelled by hydrogen and carbon monoxide, obtained by reforming natural gas. Toyota said,” High generating efficiency (55 per cent) is achieved and the co-generation facility increases overall efficiency (65 per cent).” The system will deliver an output of 250 kW and is jointly developed by Toyota, its subsidiary Toyota Turbine and Systems, and Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems.
