NASA’s earth science division is set to be cut of funding. The funding is to be used for the exploration of deep space instead. Donald Trump set the goal of exploring the entire solar system by the end of the century. This means that NASA’s world-renowned research into temperature, ice, clouds and other climate phenomena would be extinguished. The satellites provide a huge amount of information about climate change. Trump finds that there is no need for NASA to do environmental monitoring. The elimination of earth science would be a major setback because NASA provides the scientific community with new instruments and techniques.
