The U.S. Transportation Department is planning to set revised guidelines for the deployment of the self-driving vehicles. The U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine Chao said that the new guidelines ” will be released in the next few months, if not sooner and will point to a path forward for the safe deployment of automated vehicles.” Amidst an aggressive push by the giants of the autonomous industry such as Waymo, GM, Ford Motor Co., Uber Technologies Inc., Tesla Inc. etc., the administration has now taken into consideration to respond to the automakers for regulations that will sanction the autonomous vehicles to be deployed on the roads. Ken Washington, CTO said,”We need a more concrete regulatory framework.”
