UPS is starting a trial run for electric trailer delivery in London. The depot-to-door delivery is carried out by e-bikes that are powered by the trailer they carry, making it a clean last-mile delivery solution.
Packages will be distributed from a central hub, a system that makes sense as UPS is anticipating London closing the city to gas cars. After the Low Impact City Logistics project was set in motion, the trial was nearly immediately started.
Fernhay, Skotkonung, University of Huddersfield, and Outspoken Delivery are partners of UPS for the electric trailer concept.
