“Grow Good”is a small (one-acre) urban farm growing greens, fruits and herbs in California. This year the farm has produced 2,720 kilograms of fresh produce valued at more than 18,000 USD. The farm includes a full garden of climate-appropriate drought and heat-tolerant plants. Native plants control pests and allow a fully biodynamic operation free from pesticides and herbicides. Compost is also produced. The farm leads Food for Life rehabilitation programs for the Salvation Army’s residents and provides the Salvation Army shelter with food. Many of these residents work at the farm and learn basic job skills before re-entering the workforce.
