A Germany-based aviation startup E-Volo, with its Volocopter, is the newest contender in the VTOL mobility category. The Volocopter VC200 is an 18-rotor drone helicopter hybrid which took its first crewed flight last year, and the company has now revealed its first production model which goes by the name of 2X. The 2X, when flying at a speed of 43 mph, has a maximum range of 17 miles and can achieve a maximum speed of 62 mph. The aircraft has the capacity to carry up to nine Li-ion battery packs and takes around 2 hours to fully charge. E-volo plans to launch its first taxi project next year in 2018.
