Voyage Auto, a spin-off of Udacity, is now the newest contender in the autonomous ride-sharing business. The company does not aim at building new vehicles, rather it will retrofit the existing vehicles to provide extremely cheap and safe autonomous taxi service. CEO Oliver Cameron said, “I’m starting a new thing with great friends called Voyage Auto. We’re deploying autonomous taxis to real users very, very soon. ” Udacity will be an undisclosed stakeholder in the company but the operations of Voyage will be independent of Udacity. In an already competitive industry Voyage will now take on the likes of Uber Technologies Inc.
