Walmart published their 2017 Global Responsibility Report, and according to the retail giant, they obatined 26 percent of their energy from renewable sources this past year. With those numbers, Walmart is well on track for their goal of 50 percent by 2025. Headway was also made towards zero waste as 82 percent of waste was diverted from landfills in the US.
Additionally, Walmart reached the goal of buying 70 percent of its US goods from suppliers participating in the Walmart Sustainability Index. Several other projects and initiatives have been launched and joined to become a role model in sustainability.
