Wave power used to produce clean water

SAROS is a system that could produce 3,500 gallons of clean water per day. Currently it is capable of producing 500 gallons per day. The production amounts half the cost of current desalination methods by using just the motion of the waves to power the Reverse Osmosis process and then pump the fresh water to a shore via a hose system. The system is extremely useful in areas with easy ocean access but limited fresh water. The inventor’s goal is to provide cheap clean water to developing coastal regions by using renewable energy. The system itself does not generate electricity but uses the energy of ocean waves. In contrast to ordinary desalination plants, SAROS is not only costly but also clean because it does not use fossil fuels in order to supply electricity.
