Researchers from University of California accomplished the profiling of a person based on its smartphone. By analyzing the germs, chemicals and molecules on the surface of a smartphone, they were able to determine the owner’s lifestyle. The analysis reveils information on the person’s health, hygiene, diet, medication and environment. The researchers see a number of fields of applications for the method: medical studies, tests on environmental exposure, criminal profiling and others. While it can narrow down the profile of a searched for person, it does not provide an information as unique as a fingerprint.
