Under President Obama, Silicon Valley became very friendly with Washington and the relationship went both ways. Donald Trump barely made any appeal to Silicon Valley for their support, so his allegiance to growing their businesses is unclear. Moreover during his campaign he did not define a position on issues that affect the tech industry. However, Trump made a clear statement about shifting foreign production in e.g. China or Mexico back to the USA and raising a 45 percent tax on Chinese and 35 percent tax on Mexican imports if the countries do not comply to the US trade policies. Moreover much of the Silicon Valley work relies on immigrants. Under a Trump administration, it’s not clear whether a type of flexible work will continue to exist as it does today. He has changed his mind several times about the program, making it difficult to know exactly where he stands.
