Pressure by the US government to increase retention and graduation rates has led many universities and other education institutes to draw on new technology, especially big data. Analytical tools that collect all kinds of information from students are developed to help students understand relations between their behavior and academic success. However there is not just the effort and investment to collect all the data, but also concerns for privacy and cybersecurity.
