As a part of the Digital Scotland Superfast Broadband initiative, 39,000 households and businesses in rural areas of Scotland received high-speed broadband in the last months. In order to receive faster connection, households had to sign up with their provider. With this intiative the government aims to support local businesses and improve living conditions in rural areas.
