Will future air traffic be based on solar energy?

SolarStratos, a Swiss enginneering company, managed to develop a plane that can fly around the globe, powered by solar energy. The two-seater plane is estimated to go commercial in 2018 and it can reach an altitude of 25,000 meters. The next goal of SolarStratos is to design a plane that can reach the edge of space.
