Panasonic aims at being involved in the production of Tesla’s self-driving system with a proposal of collaborating on sensor development. Imaging sensors are a key part for autonomous vehicles. Currently the company is the only supply partner for Tesla batteries used in the Model S, Model X and the upcoming Model 3. Moreover, Panasonic is a co-investor in Tesla’s Gigafactory with 1,6 billion USD being contributed.
