Verizon Communications finalized the purchase of Yahoo’s internet business for $4.48 billion on Tuesday. Yahoo and AOL will now be combined into a new branch division of Verizon, Oath.
Placing the same content in multiple locations such as articles, videos or ads, Oath wants to reach the widest possible audience. “You’ll start to see more and more of these experiences — Yahoo sports, finance, news — not just as a preload on the handset, but integrated in a very thoughtful way,” Marni Walden, the Verizon executive vice president, said.
