Mayor Gabriela Firea of Bucharest, Romania, recently suggested subsidizing bike purchases of residents. The proposal, to be further discussed by the Bucharest General Council, is only part of multiple projects encouraging people to travel by bike. A campaign that is aimed at educating drivers about cyclist safety was also announced, and Bucharest City Hall is starting to acquire a feasibility study on the construction of more bike lanes.
