Ocado, England’s largest online-only grocery delivery company, is utilizing robots to fill grocery delivery orders in just a few minutes, taking efficiency to the next level. The robots accelerate and decelerate quickly, can carry heavy items, and can work for several hours on just one battery charge.
“The level of performance Ocado can now achieve is a revolution for grocery logistics,” the company says of itself. “The new facility can pick a customer’s order of around 50 items in a few minutes compared to several hours at existing fulfilment centres.”
U.K. manufacturer Tharsus helped with the development of the robots.
