How to generate power from even low-speed wind? Image source: Shutterstock (#264960899)

Newwind is a French startup that designed a “Wind Tree” that can generate energy from low-speed wind. The design allows it to be installed in neighborhoods and has little to do with what people usually associate with wind farms. The energy from a Wind Tree is sufficient to run a small building or streetlighting. The installation is about 30 feet tall and 26 feet in diameter. 40 of the trees have already been set up in France.
