Bike sharing facilities in portland and Detroit don’t just want to provide a superb network of bicycle infrastructure, but want to go the extra mile. By providing physically accessible bikes that do not exclude societies’ handicapped citizens, these cities want serve the needs for transportation and excersise for all. Planning a bike rental network and infrastructure for disabled residents, is an ambitious goal. The City of Portland hopes to provide three different kinds of bikes soon: 1) Handcycles for those who are hampered, 2) tricycles for those with issues keeping balance, and 3) tandem bikes, to help those riding with someone visually impaired.
