USDA and DOE partner to award $9M for bioenergy efforts

A $9 million funding will be made available through the Biomass Research and Development Initiative (BRDI) in collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). The funding is provided to provide support for the development of bioenergy feedstocks, biofuels, and bio-based products. The three legislatively mandated technical areas which qualify for funding include Feedstocks Development, Biofuels and Biobased Products Development, and Biofuels and Biobased Products Development Analysis. The awards are planned to be distributed in the fiscal year 2017 and the anticipated range goes from $500,000 to $2 million per award.
