Amazon highlights importance of good transit

As Amazon is about to build a second headquarters in a major North American city, the company explicitly expressed a preference for cities with access to good public transportation. As urbanization is driven by generational preferences and economic imperatives, companies are drawn to cities because innovators work best when living close to potential collaborators. This trend is only going to become stronger with a growing population.

While cities outbid themselves to call themselves the new home of Amazon, other companies such as GE, McDonalds, Caterpillar and Aetna are relocating to downtown office buildings as well.
