Amazon plans to develop autonomous vehicle and road management technology

Amazon started to develop a self-driving vehicle technology. The company has just got a patent for the coordination of autonomous vehicles on a roadway with reversible lanes by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The roadway management system monitors traffic flows and generates routing instructions for self-driving cars based on the roadway assignment. Autonomous driving is especially interesting for Amazon because it could improve the speed and efficiency of deliveries and reduce costs of hiring drivers.
