Proterra, an EV busmaker closed a $55 million funding round with new investors BMW i Ventures and Al Gore’s Generation Investment Management. The goal for this project is to forge new strategic alliances. The joint venture benefit by taking up the light-weight, carbon fiber chassis and custom-designed battery packs that BMW builds and mirroring Proterra’s approach to its buses. CEO of Proterra, Ryan Popple says that EV buses will have a lock on all major procurements by 2030.
