BYD has recently delivered an additional 20 of its e6 electric sedans to the existing Montevideo taxi fleet in Uruguay. With the significant government efforts from shifting the electric grid to renewable generation to providing upto $100,000 USD contribution per taxi including subsidies, tax rebates etc., the electric vehicles have been able to make their mark in Montevideo, Uruguay. With the Mayor, Eng. Daniel Martinez, being a strong EV advocate, an original fleet of 50 electrified Montevideo taxis was commissioned in 2015. The abundance of renewable sources and the positive outlook of the government towards the electric vehicles have made the country as a prime market for BYD.
