The European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA) has voiced approval of the two new tests for measuring emissions from cars and vans that will begin to be implemented in the EU from tomorrow onward.

The first test called WLTP introduces more realistic testing conditions for measuring pollutant and CO2 emissions than the laboratory test it replaces (NEDC) while the other test, the real driving emissions (RDE) test, measures pollutant emissions on the road.

“The automobile industry has invested heavily to achieve significant improvements in emissions from RDE-compliant Euro 6 vehicles,” stated ACEA Secretary General, Erik Jonnaert.
