Supermarket giant Sainsbury’s and appliance manufacturer Bosch, in a partnership with environmental charity Hubbub, have launched the Community Fridge Network, offering leftover food from supermarkets and households to the needy in central places.
After a successful pilot by Sainsbury’s in Swadlincote, the cooperation is now installing five fridges in Milton Keynes, London and Northern Ireland, looking to expand that number to 50 within one year. The goal is to improve community access to surplus perishable foods by giving people the space to deposit, store, and collect donations.
