The International Energy Agency has reviewed Denmark’s decarbonization efforts, and concluded the country is “moving convincingly” toward a low-carbon economy independent of fossil fuels.
The progress Denmark is making on meeting its ambitious goal is impressive, and will probably result in securing 50 percent renewable energy by 2030 already.
“Effective policies and measures have been put in place to support energy efficiency improvements and switching from fossil fuels to renewable energy,” the IEA writes. “Denmark is to be commended, in particular, for organising successful offshore wind tenders that have resulted in record-low prices.”
