As more and more people are living in urban environments, the role of cities are increasing in decision-making processes. While this has been recognized by the EU with the Urban Agenda one year ago, one might ask how this changes political decisions overall. Named ‘Learning with cities – learning for cities’, the report by researchers at Utrecht University takes a look at the Urban Agenda of the European Union. It states that urban decision-making is often characterized by practical challenges dealt with in a collaborative way. The report concludes these local approaches could also be beneficial when taken to the EU level.
