Google wants to become fully renewable-dependent this year, but the company is facing a road block in Asia, where policies are lacking. Introducing the concept of the corporate power purchase agreement, for instance, would go a long way.

There are many ways to reduce pollution. Google’s cloud-based email service Gmail is 80 times less polluting than an inhouse email system like many Asian companies still use. The footprint of computing could be drastically reduced by moving IT functions to the cloud.
