Henderson, the second-largest city in Nevada is setting up a smart city strategic plan, using smart city concepts and projects to apply to the city’s larger vision. It aims at adapting dynamic and targeted responses to the issues at stake in the city and not just implementing smart city technology for the sake of it. Smart technology is rather a tool to move forward to the overall city vision. The strategy vision, Henderson Strong, will be a roadmap for the following 20 years, outlining envisioned developments in economy, education, transportation, health and other areas.
As to now, city departments are monitoring and doing an inventory of the installed smart devices and systems in place to implement in their strategic plan. Another step is meeting with stakeholders for a “visioning session” to acquire demands and priorities for a smart cities strategic plan.
