The crowdsourced, color-coded map Hoodmaps lets users draw and highlight parts of cities depending on what kind of city-dweller they think is most likely to be found there. The project already covers more than 2,000 cities worldwide.
Dividing cities in six color-coded categories, Hoodmaps was developed by Pieter Levels to help people find an original, local scene when traveling. As the map is solely based on user input, the results may skew towards hipsters, “normies”, suits, tourists, students or the rich, but with a growing number of contributors, the maps will become more accurate.
