More big cities and companies going circular

An increasing number of major cities and businesses is making the switch to a circular economy, in which raw materials and products are repeatedly reused. Among others Unilever, Renault, Google and Nike are some companies who have recently announced further efforts to cut waste and use fewer resources.

For cities, London, Amsterdam and Paris are implementing projects to reuse products, parts and materials, produce no waste and pollution, and use fewer new resources and energy. London’s Waste and Recycling Board, for example, published a routemap for how the city as a whole could go circular last month, even creating jobs in the process.

The benefits are plentiful. Less land and infrastructure to manage waste are needed, freeing up space for housing and saving up to 5 billion pounds in infrastructure expenses.
