At the Committee of the Regions (CoR) in Brussls a new board of seven European mayors has been launched. The European Covenant of the Mayors Board is committed to EU climate and energy goals. It forms part of a political push to reach the EU climate action goals which are among others, to reduce CO2 emissions by 40 percent by 2030. The covenant is open to all local European authorities with democratic given mandates. Furthermore, the covenant will be linked to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy.
