Mayor Bill de Blasio of New York has released a comprehensive and ambitious climate action plan for New York. It describes how the city is going to comply with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, either by reaching carbon neutrality, or zero net emissions.
The plan focuses on 2020 and 2050 as deadlines and concentrates on building and electrical grids by pursuing legislation requiring that all large buildings must limit emissions from fossil fuels burned for heat and hot water, on transportation, mainly targetting private vehicles, and on waste, introducing a recyclable sorting scheme.
