The HCS Convergence Working Group, a coalition of industry NGOs, announced the upcoming convergence between The High Carbon Stock Approach (HCS Approach) & HCS+ by the Sustainable Palm Oil Manifesto (SPOM). The intent is to standardize the methodology for protecting tropical forests and to identify suitable landscapes for the sustainable production of palm oil.

The new HCS Approach Toolkit covers a plethora of issues, including the overall goal of making Zero Deforestation a reality, but also the implementation of free, prior, and informed consent (FPIC) for indigenous and other forest communities.
