Nurseries take stand against microplastics

Tops Day Nurseries, a group of nurseries responsible for 2,500 children in southern England, has banned the use of glitter, just in time before Christmas. The group felt it was time to make a stand against unnecessary microplastics in their craft activities.

Thirty percent of all the plastics that end up in our oceans are microplastics. The hope is that the ban will encourage other facilities and businesses to do the same.

In other news, the UK government recently also outlawed microbeads.
