The US Department of Energy’s Exascale Computing Project (ECP) is funding six technology companies to drive forward the development of supercomputers 50 times more powerful than Titan, the fastest supercomputer in the US as of today. As one of those companies, NVIDIA secured funds to do research into energy efficiency and overall performance of future large-scale supercomputers essential to areas such as national security, manufacturing, industrial competitiveness, and energy research.
The ECP PathForward program is aiming to deliver at least two exascale computing systems, one of them by 2021.
