With the growing solar market in India several foreign investors are interested in the investment opportunities in the Indian solar market. Private equity fund Actis is planning to invest $500 million in Solenergi Power, one of winners of the 750 MW Rewa solar power tender. Solenergi will install 250 MW capacity at Rs. 3.30/kWh. Actis has previously invested around $280 million towards Ostro Energy’s expansion plans. After the Indian government’s target of 100 GW solar power and 60 GW wind power capacity, several foreign players including the likes of Softbank, Goldman Sachs, GIC etc. have invested significantly in the Indian renewable energy market.
