The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals are instrumental in building resilience and making the world more sustainable, but it is sometimes hard to sell the benefits to people. At Pitch & Flow, a unique event that happened recently at the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., social entrepeneurs were paired with rappers to make their case in the form of music.
With a $7,500 prize at stake, the eight competitors voiced their ideas and solutions concerning clean energy, waste, and education for the incarcerated, and more.
“The ones who tell the best story gather more attention and have more impact, and hip hop has been able to do that,” said Colin Gayle, founder and CEO of Africa Creative Agency.
