As one of the largest ever energy efficiency projects in the UK, the supermarket giant will cut greenhouse gas emissions by 3.4 percent a year through the project. The first among UK grocery retailer to fully switch to LED lighting, Sainsbury’s will save 58 percent on energy with switch to LEDs.
“We’re always looking for new ways of achieving our sustainability goals, and switching to LED lighting is a big step in the right direction,” Paul Crewe, Sainsbury’s head of sustainability, energy, engineering and environment, said.
