Today, the energy produced from renewable energy sources in Germany corresponds to 32 nuclear power plants. However, this source of energy is unstable, thus leaving the energy system dependent on fossil fuels and nuclear power. The rising popularity of battery storage systems offers an opportunity to use renewable energy in a more intelligent way. Unfortunately, the most networks of battery storage systems are tied to a specific brand or manufacturer leaving the number of potential members low.

The gridBox is a manufacturer-independent adapter that can connect all battery storage systems to a decentral virtual power plant. this way, battery owners can trade energy at the energy market. That generates much higher profits than just feeding the produced electricity into the power grid at a feed-in-tariff. Additionally, weather-induced energy fluctuations can be compensated by the gridX community.

In the beginning, gridX will solely address battery storage owners in order to build up a stable and reliable supply side. However, in the intermediate future, gridX will expand its network first to owners of solar panels and later to all energy consumers.
