About WiTricity

WiTricity develops solutions to enable wireless power transfer over distance using its patented magnetic resonance technology. WiTricity works with top global carmakers and Tier 1 suppliers to deploy magnetic resonance solutions, helping realize a future of transportation that is electrified, shared and autonomous. WiTricity supports consumer electronics, industrial and medical wireless solutions through our licensee partners. See how WiTricity makes EV charging easy.

WiTricity is working with major automakers and Tier 1 suppliers to bring the next generation of wireless EV charging to a commercial reality. Licensing agreements have been announced with Toyota, Delphi, TDK, IHI, Shindengen, Daihen and BRUSA. WiTricity is also collaborating directly with leading carmakers to drive global standards for wireless charging systems. Standards initiatives the company is involved in include the SAE International, International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), International Organization for Standardization (ISO), STILLE, China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC) China Electricity Council and Chinese Electric Power Research Institute (CEPRI).

DRIVE 11

The DRIVE 11 evaluation system is WiTricity’s end to end reference design for “Park-and- Charge” wireless charging of electric and hybrid vehicles. Capable of delivering up to 11kW of power at efficiencies up to 94%, the system is ideal for automotive OEMs and Tier 1s seeking to develop and integrate magnetic resonance systems based on the SAE TIR J2954TM and IEC/ISO standards.

Designed for the utmost in interoperability, the DRIVE 11 ground assembly (GA) is capable of charging vehicles at industry standard 3.6 kW, 7.7, kW, or 11 kW levels – and is capable of on-ground and in-ground installation. The DRIVE 11 vehicle assembly (VA) is available in low, mid, and high ground clearance versions to handle the full range of passenger vehicles, SUVs, and light trucks. DRIVE 11’s combination of high efficiency, low emissions, cost effective architecture, and interoperability make it the leading wireless charging reference design for global Tier 1s and carmakers.

Impressions

The WiTricity system design, which is based on the widely accepted circular coil architecture preferred by carmakers worldwide, delivers:

  • Scalable charging rates of from 3.6 to 11 kW, to meet the needs of vehicles ranging from PHEV’s with small capacity battery packs to EV’s with high capacity, long range battery packs.
  • The ability to charge vehicles ranging from low ground clearance sports cars to medium ground clearance sedans to high ground clearance SUV’s, with a single system design.
  • The ability to be installed as an on-ground charging pad in a private residence, and buried in the pavement of a parking lot as public charging infrastructure.
