Touchscreen plastic utilized to make bacteria useful

Researchers from Sweden’s Karolinska Institute in Stockholm have found a new way to use the conducting plastic of touchscreens on smartphones, namely manipulating the growth of bacteria, either supporting or hindering growth of bacteria.

This discovery has plenty of useful practical applications. The most obvious is the development of a new, highly-effective antibacterial coating technology, but the team from Sweden wants to utilite their research to prevent bacterial infections in hospitals and promote growth of bacterial biofilms to improve wastewater management.
