Toyoto tests Human Support Robot in real-life environment

Toyota’s Human Support Robot (HSR) has been in development for a long time, but has only now completed its first in-home trial. Designed to help people with limited mobility, the robot features a telescopic body, an extendable folding arm, and a flexible hand to carry out everyday tasks.

Right now, it responds to QR-like codes to navigate, but it is still being refined. The team put particular emphasis on a compact and lightweight body, safety and an intuitive interface. “This is a big game changer for everybody that has a disability,” said Romulo Camargo, who is paralyzed from the neck down.
