Duryea Technologies wants to make biogas a competitive energy solution

Duryea Technologies, a motor and engine manufacturer, has developed a system with which they intend to handle the inherent liabilities of biogas, a byproduct of anaerobic digestion. The MODE (Modular On-Demand Energy) Power System will transform biogas to an excellent alternative energy source for places with excess waste, the company hopes. “The product’s most important feature is its separate lubrication system, sealed from acidic combustion gases, which will eliminate frequent oil changes and reduce the rate at which parts wear,” Dan Sodomsky, CEO of Duryea Technologies, says.

Due to prior frustrations with biogas, the company sees their main challenge in convincing the market to try new technology. MODE will first be tested in Pennsylvania dairy country at the end of 2017.
